We belong to a Brahmin - Iyer Vadama family and am looking for a match from the same community. We are a nuclear family, with traditional to moderate values, and are settled at Chennai. Both of his parents retired from private employment. He is our only Son.
I am making this profile for my son. He has completed his Master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh) in Information Systems (Bachelor's from NIT Warangal, ECE). He is currently working in San Francisco bay area as Senior Data Scientist.
My husband, son and I jointly manage this profile, to the extent that we can, given the distance and time difference between India and US. Apologies for delayed responses.
My son would like to say a few words here:
Sai Krishna here. I want to make sure I communicate my preferences clearly. (This site seems to be adding way too many spaces between paragraphs)
1. I am fairly close to my family and I am looking for someone who is comfortable with it. I want to make this clear at the very outset. I prefer someone who values their relationship with their family as much as I do with my own.
2. I intend to return to India in the foreseeable future. Primarily because I wish to be close to my family. I am fascinated by startups and the opportunity they present. I like to build things ground-up. This comes with its own set of risks and rewards. I want someone who is on board with that.
I am not a Software Engineer. I am a Data Scientist. That's a fancy way of saying Applied Statistician. I however work quite a bit with computers and software. I prefer someone who is from a field that is different than my own, although it's not a deal-breaker. I am fairly successful in my career and I would like someone who is passionate about their career as well.
I am pretty straight-forward (not rude) in my communication and prefer someone who is the same. I tend to get along with people who are opinionated but reasonable. Most importantly, I am drawn to those who can laugh at themselves. I absolutely don't get along with those who are pretentious, unreasonable or don't communicate clearly.
It doesn't take much to break me out of my shell. I tend to be jovial once I have warmed up to someone. My sense of humour is best described as dark, often self-deprecating. And yeah, I have done a few standup open-mics. (Ask me about it). I am often found turning serious situations into a laugh-fest.
I am INTJ on Briggs Myers test. So I tend to want some personal space sometimes. Which means, you get some space too.
I am fairly liberal socially. I have close friends of all ethnicities, religions etc. I judge a person by their actions and intentions, not background. Politically, I am center-right. And I am passionate about my political views. I have deep respect for my religious and cultural traditions and try to stay rooted to the extent possible.
Having grown up in a middle-class family in Hyderabad and currently living abroad, I think I have found a good balance of the traditional and modern for myself. I appreciate Carnatic music, go to the temple on major festivals, explore our spiritual heritage, take an interest in matters that affect our community; Also, I love progressive rock, taking the dog out for a run and hanging out with friends at a coffee shop or bowling alley.
I value people and ideas over money and fame, hands-down. I tend to be a minimalist and utilitarian in my acquisition of material possessions (Not a miser).
Respect is a big part of my value system. To me, respect is not about overt signs of deference but an implicit sentiment. I respect people for who they are by default (not based on their looks, wealth, intellect etc.). I do not take lightly to me or my loved ones being disrespected.
I am being open about these things because the way I see it, if we can't be great friends, we probably shouldn't be partners.
Hobbies & Interests:
I am into healthy living and fitness but I am not super sporty. Sure, I'll play ping pong, or badminton or tennis once a while. But you'll rarely hear me rave about my team or whatever. Love the outdoors! Always down to go hiking, swimming or hit the gym. Some weekends though, I prefer to stay in and binge-watch a series. Not a busy bee who's always looking to do something.
I think I have a flair for languages and am currently learning a new one. Of late, have been spending more of my free time reading books. Non-fiction interests me over fiction.
Not big on movies. I watch them for the company or exceptional content. More into TV series.
My son finished his BE in 2010 and went to USA. He is right now working as tech lead at Cisco Systems in California after finishing his Masters in computer science there.
He is moving back to India this september 2019
